Air/Pneumatic System

 Effortless Operation with Compressed Air Technology
Each skylight operates using compressed air stored in a dedicated reservoir tank. With a simple flip of a lever, air is released into precision-engineered cylinders, allowing your skylight to open smoothly and reliably. Every skylight is equipped with its own individual operating lever for ease of use.


Electrical & Installation Requirements

  • Requires a 110V, 20-amp dedicated non-GFI line.


  •  The compressor should be easily accessible for maintenance. If installed outdoors, it must be housed in a waterproof, ventilated enclosure .


  • Standard 3-position switch: opens, pauses, and stops—operates up to a 90° opening angle.


  • Pipe installation is suggested to be completed before sheetrock/insulation.

Electric System

  Seamless Electric Operation
Our electronically operated skylights are powered by two synchronized actuators, working in unison to ensure smooth, balanced movement and reliable performance every time you open or close the unit.


Electrical & Installation Requirements

  • A dedicated 110V, 15-amp line should be installed near the the location of the switch.


  • Outdoor switches must be housed in a weatherproof, covered enclosure.


  • Standard multi-position switch: opens, pauses, and stops—operates up to a 90° opening angle.


  • A 3-lead low-voltage wire should be run from the skylight to the designated control switch location.
     

Multiple control switch options are available upon request to suit your preferences and space.

Home Humidity

Every home is different, but an average level between 30 and 40 percent humidity is typically ideal for keeping your home warm and comfortable in the winter, without leaving condensation on the windows. Extra humidity in a house can cause condensation of the skylight. Condensation is created from water vapor in the air.

 

What is Humidity?

Relative humidity = % of water in the air relative to the maximum water the air can hold. Warmer air holds more water vaper than cooler air.

 

What Causes Humidity?

Modern building techniques and materials have created tighter air seals, reducing natural ventilation. Combined with everyday activities—like cooking without an exhaust fan, taking hot, steamy showers without proper airflow, and even the humidity released from body heat—this limited air movement increases indoor humidity. The result is excessive water vapor and a higher risk of condensation throughout the space.

 Warm air comes in contact with cold surface which causes vapor molecules to slow down and turn into liquid water droplets. This is the same thing that causes water droplets to form on a glass of water on a hot day. You do not want this happening to the windows inside your home during the winter months.

 Extra humidity in a house can cause condensation of the skylight. Condensation is created from water vapor in the air. The dew point in a house is the temperature at which the air's moisture will condense into liquid water. It's a good indicator of how much moisture is in the air and how humid it feels.

 You may have a humidistat, which lets you monitor and control your home’s humidity level. Most humidistats are wired to a humidifier mounted right to your furnace, or they’re located on a wall elsewhere in your home. They look and function a lot like your thermostat, but instead of measuring temperature and making adjustments, humidistats measure relative humidity in the air and turn your humidifier on or off in response

 You can prevent extra humidity and condensation by having a properly ventilated environment and by using an exhaust fan near kitchen and bathrooms. Having a proper intake of fresh air allows for adequate ventilation. For every 600-900 sq ft of living space, it requires 100 cfm of fresh air. If using a forced air system with a humidifier, cutting back the humidifier can help with the excessive humidity in the air. If all else fails, you can install a proper heat recovery ventilator system.
